The state of Maryland uses an electronic verification process as a secondary method of verifying coverage.

You can receive a suspension of your registration and license plate if found driving without auto insurance, as well as face a fine of $150 for the first 30 days, and a fee of $7 per day thereafter, and a $30 fee to restore your driving privileges once auto insurance has finally been obtained.
